The Accumulator or Filter Drier should always be replaced when the Air Conditioning System is opened.
Labor time to remove and replace the A/C compressor is .7 hours, not including evacuate and recharge.
Removal:
1. Recover refrigerant from the A/C system.
2. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the serpentine drive belt.
4. Unplug the compressor clutch coil wire harness connector.
5. Remove the suction and discharge refrigerant line manifold from the compressor. Install plugs in, or tape over all of the opened refrigerant fittings to avoid contamination.
6. Remove the bolts that secure the compressor to the mounting bracket. See image below.
7. Remove the compressor from the mounting bracket.
Installation:
1. Install the compressor to the mounting bracket.
2. Tighten the bolts in the following sequence:
a. The number one bolt (rear) is hand tightened first, then tightened to 41 ft. lbs.
b. The number three bolt is then hand tightened and torqued to 30 ft. lbs.
c. The number two bolt is hand tightened and torqued to 41 ft. lbs.
3. Remove the plugs or tape from the opened refrigerant lines. Install the suction and discharge line manifold to the compressor. Tighten the bolt to 250 in. lbs.
4. Install the serpentine drive belt.
5. Plug in the compressor clutch coil wire harness connector.
6. Connect the negative battery cable.
7. Evacuate / Vacuum the A/C system.
8. Charge the A/C system with refrigerant.
